Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) Programs

With students from over 90 nationalities each semester, our ELE courses are a valuable addition to our academic programs. They prepare you for internships and professional roles in Spanish-speaking countries.

Four Levels of Study:

  • Level 1 (A1) – Basic communication skills for everyday situations and hospitality contexts
  • Level 2 (A1 advanced) – Expanded vocabulary, improved grammar, and confidence in real-world conversations
  • Level 3 (A2) – Ability to describe past events, exchange information, and use grammar accurately
  • Level 4 (A2–B1) – Express opinions, discuss current topics, and communicate fluently in diverse situations

Spanish Level 1

This course introduces the Spanish language at a basic level, focusing primarily on oral skills and communication. Students will engage in basic conversations related to everyday topics and daily life, interacting in a simple way as long as the other person speaks slowly and clearly.

In addition, students will be able to understand instructions and short texts. They will also be able to take part in short conversations where they can apply their knowledge of the hospitality industry.

By the end of the course, students will reach a level equivalent to A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding and use of everyday vocabulary in spoken and written contexts.
  2. Communicate using basic grammatical structures.
  3. Participate in simple conversations within a hospitality setting.

Spanish Level 2

This course reinforces and expands on the language learned in Level 1, reviewing grammar and introducing new structures. Classroom activities focus on building confidence in speaking. A wide range of vocabulary is introduced, enabling students to interact in everyday situations such as describing a city, shopping, dealing with problems and giving advice, talking about past experiences, and discussing future plans.

To consolidate and apply what they learn, students are provided with a variety of interactive tools, apps, and activities focused on improving listening comprehension, pronunciation, intonation, grammar, and vocabulary.

By the end of this course, students will achieve greater language competence equivalent to A1 level of the CEFR.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding and use of everyday vocabulary in spoken and written contexts.
  2. Communicate using basic grammatical structures.
  3. Write simple texts.
  4. Participate in simple conversations within a hospitality setting.

Spanish Level 3

This course builds on and expands the grammatical structures from Level 2 and gives students the opportunity to talk about past experiences and habits. It develops the ability to exchange information about everyday matters in a simple and direct way, without relying on their mother tongue or another foreign language.

Accuracy in grammar and vocabulary is reinforced in both spoken and written contexts. To strengthen learning, students use a variety of interactive tools, apps, and activities designed to improve listening, pronunciation, intonation, grammar, and vocabulary.

By the end of this course, students will reach a language competence equivalent to A2 level of the CEFR.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe events, both orally and in writing, using appropriate verb tenses.
  2. Engage in conversations about everyday topics in and outside the hospitality context.
  3. Use grammar and vocabulary accurately within the appropriate level.

Spanish Level 4

This course builds on and expands the language learned in Level 3, giving students the opportunity to talk about past experiences and habits. It further develops skills for exchanging information about everyday topics in a simple and direct way.

By the end of the course, students will reach a level of competence equivalent to A2–B1 of the CEFR.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Discuss a variety of topics and express opinions.
  2. Describe and comment on current everyday matters.
  3. Use grammar and vocabulary accurately and appropriately for the level.

Admission Process & Teaching Methodology

How it works:

  1. Registration – Join the Spanish learning track automatically upon enrolling in an academic program.
  2. Placement Test – Take a short test to find your ideal level.
  3. Small Groups – 1 teacher per 15 students for personalized learning.
